Get your mending **t together
Weekly inspiration to help you tackle your mending pile and build your toolkit for wear or repair. The Mending Kit is for humans who:
1. value the art of visible mending
2. celebrate slow fashion
3. would love to live more mindfully
About me
The Mending Kit is created and curated by me, Zoe Robinson, a darning devotee and perfectionist trying to embrace imperfection as I muddle my way through mending, motherhood, mental health and giving a shit about our planet. Sometimes doing it in style...sometimes in pyjamas.
Long ago in another life, in a land not too far away, a tiny seed of an idea sprouted in my mind: the antithesis of fast fashion. I nurtured the seed and before long, with a lot of hard work, it took flight and flourished into a wonderful online (and offline) community.
The Good Wardrobe, an award-winning online sustainable fashion hub, was my first ‘baby’. Launched while living in London, it inspired and supported people around the world to dress with style and sustainability in mind.
And then, ten years ago, my first human baby arrived into the world. Since then my life has evolved. Fast forward to 2025, I’m now a mum of two living in a calm corner of Bristol. I want to be home after school cooking for my kids (most of the time) instead of scampering around London Fashion Week in heels.
Very little of my former world has stayed with me, aside from the vintage dress collection (much of which no longer fits) and my love of visible mending.
Why here, why now?
Today I am a recovering perfectionist who went cold turkey on Instagram for a while because looking at it made me feel less than. Not good enough. After feeling I’d lost my voice somewhat, I’ve decided the time is right to start afresh on here. My darns aren’t always insta-perfect but they’re real. And my photos…they’re snapped at home under whatever light I can find. They’re just fine.
I love to make a feature of my mends, to celebrate the scars and show that repair can be beautiful. Each visible mend of mine is a mini yarn-powered protest, proof that visible repair can be better than buying new. I hope these pages inspire people to have a go at fixing their wardrobe or have their clothes repaired.
I’m excited to share on here and find out what you want to see more (or less) of. Whether you’ve just discovered my work or you’ve followed my projects in the past I hope you’ll sign up below to receive my weekly posts.
